forgotten - 29Nov08 MacRithchie

saw hui che's blog that she went MacRitchie Reservior n i remembered that i forgotten to post my pics :p

went MacRitchie reservior for "exercise" on the day we celebrated YQ the teen boy's bday at bukit batok.. wanted to go to the treetop walk since i never been there b4. the 1st time i went MR should be in 2007(?) when me n hubby joined wen n her frens for a charity activity. that walk took us from MR all the way to bukit timah nature reserve n is a total of 10km+.
so this time i wanted to go treetop n if possible, walk till bukit timah nature reserve again before we head to xiaogugu's house.
the walk was SUPER tiring!!! especially to treetop.. treetop is jus a short bridge (duh!!) and is a ONE-WAY bridge! cos we were going up n up n up to reach treetop, so we thought we will go down n down n down after the bridge.. BUT after the bridge, is a series of STAIRS!!!!!! ups n downs n ups n downs... :( finally when we are out, we decided to still go towards bukit timah hill, but when we reach the ST engineering aerospace building, i "drop dead" hahaha :p so we called for a cab to bring us to west mall... hahaha :p

back from malaccA!! :D

"surprise" 3D2N trip fully sponsored by hubby hehehe :) thanks dear :*

malacca is just so small.. we walk everywhere cos they are just near to each other..
hotel: Mahkota Hotel - service apartment style, quite old, beside it is the new holiday Inn! told hubby that next time if we were to come malacca again, i want to stay there :p

shopping: there are 2 shopping malls - mahkota parade (older one) and dataran pahlawan megamall (newer one)
got mango sale, padini sale and lots of sales going on... but no time to shop :(
becos...
1) day 1: arrived lunch time at malacca then had city tour, evening went dinner at newton then only walk walk the new mall n is 9+pm le, then hubby wanna watch movie since is cheap so we watched "the day the earth stood still" (2 tix = RM18 = S$7.50 = S$3.80/pax) quite ok movie, didnt know that is an alien show, thought is some natural disaster kind...
2) day 2: after breakfast, walk walk the old mall, searched for the banya restaurant, then off we went to jonker walk thinking that we might need to spend whole day there... end up the street is just that short but still we spent quite long walking slowly n eating :p cos we bought some stuffs so decided to go put them at hotel 1st b4 continuing.. den we decided to watch Ip Man ( 2 tix = RM20 = S$8.40 = S$4.20/pax) very nice show!! in original canto somemore :) den we went back to jonker to see the night life and eat again :p so happen that there was a singing competition going on, the finals already, so we stood n watch till the end till 11pm.
3) day 3: after breakfast, "force" hubby to quicking go padini w me cos wanna buy shoes.. in the end, din buy anything... 12nn time to check out and board bus back to Sg...

Food - nice food to try, not sure if they are supposed to be famous but we think are quite nice:
1) Banya restaurant - oppo dataran shopping, beside fenix inn - try their telur cincalok :) think they got other nyonya food too
2) popiah - jonker walk, sold by old uncle in a cart parked near the famosa chicken rice shop. is soooooo much nicer than what we had at the newton hawker
3) nyonya dumpling - nancy's kitchen off jonker walk, not bad dumplings just that it's cold when we had it... quite expensive tho...
4) chicken rice ball - hoe kee (和记)the ball is cute n unique, taste quite ok tho it doesnt really have the SG chicken rice flavour, chicken is so-so, think their chicken not as nice as ours in SG but overall still quite tasty. another famous one is oppo hoe kee in a old kind of coffee shop, dont remember the name but part of the shop name is "hainanese chicken rice", looooong Q when we were there in the morning, but when we decided to go for chicken rice later in the afternoon, the shop is closed, so i supposed they sold out!! another shop is called "the famous famosa chicken rice ball" we didnt try it cos a blogger say is not nice hahaha :p
5) chendol - a blogger recommended the no.1 kopitiam chendol oppo hoe kee chicken rice, but hubby thinks that the chendol we had at Bibik shop is better. bibik shop is towards the other end of jonker walk from no.1 kopitiam chendol.
6) pineapple tarts - recommended by a blogger are madam goh and christina Ee. christina Ee is off jonker walk, we went to take a look, quite a no. of singaporeans buying, but we didnt see the oven or smell any freshly made tarts so we walked away :p then hubby's fren whom we met coincidentally on day 1 while boarding bus in bugis (he & gf also go malacca) said the other shop selling cheaper.. so we went n saw that is madam goh! small shop n there's a group of singaporeans Q-ing n crowding up the place but we still managed to buy 3 boxes :)
7) carrot cake - evening at jonker walk, long Q, serve only black, quite tasty but abit salty :p
8) laksa - few carts beside carrot cake, nice curry but i dont like it served in yellow noodles, next time should ask for thick bee hoon
9) dim sum - 3 for RM1.50 or 7 for RM3.. not bad, i like the vege wrap one :)
10) fry 算盘子 - beside laksa, we didnt try this, cos quite full already, but saw quite a no. of people ordering it...
dont bother to go to the newton hawker centre cos we think that chomp chomp's food is sooooooo much better hehehe :)
wanted to try the satay celup, but i dont know where to find it... didnt research anyway :p

straight after we reach SG at 5++pm, hubby called his buddies to come play MJ hahaha
dont know if is the chicken rice i had (bought from the beach rd hawker) towards the end of the game @ 11++pm, i vomitted 3 times.. all the chicken rice down the sewage pipe :p

Henderson Wave...

went to explore Henderson Wave with hubby on 24Aug08 (Sun)...
started our trail from Harbourfront MRT and following the sign to Henderson Wave, Forest Walk, Hort Park and Canopy Walk...
the Hort Park is good for family and children outing...
as we thought is just walking, we wore slippers... n the result... i kicked my big right toe against a rough concrete step n a piece of skin came off followed by blood and painnnnnnnnnnnnnn... OUCH!!
so remember:
1) wear comfy clothes
2) wear covered toes footwear or be careful of your toes
3) bring cap, sunglasses for shade and umbrella if heaven decides to rain
4) bring water
5) put on insect repellent if ur blood attracts the buzz

have fun and enjoy!!! :D hehehe
